About

Iles of Right is, of course, a work in progress.  I am a Christian, a father, a husband, an American, and a Reagan Conservative–among other things.

I do not hide behind anonymity. This blog is my place to discuss just about anything I want to discuss, but particularly my passion for conservatism as a set of governing principles.

I believe that free markets, time-tested institutions, and constitutionally limited government maximize individual freedom within the civil society.

I believe that liberals are, generally speaking, as good and honest as anyone else.  Liberalism, however, is not just wrong, but demonstrably dangerous.

I believe in civil discourse.  Sometimes, though, a spade needs to be called a spade.  I don’t believe that graciousness in the face of slander gains conservatives anything.

As a conservative, I believe my principles should always be advanced as if under threat of attack.  Poor ideas should regularly and vigorously be detected, overthrown, and marginalized for what they are.

As always, I hope you enjoy my sometimes-disjointed rantings and random thoughts.  I appreciate your taking the time to read.  Comments that are thoughtful and add to the discourse are always welcome.  However, comments that are slanderous, vulgar, or just plain stupid will not be approved.  I welcome thoughtful disagreement; I just won’t tolerate a rambling, semi-literate screed that essentially boils down to “conservatives are inbred, racist, hypocritical, idiotic Nazis”.  So be prepared to actually say something worthwhile.

Be sure to visit the fine folks on my blog roll, and keep in mind that this is a work in progress.
