Health-Care Industry Rides to the Rescue for Coakley In MA Senate Race
Call it another nail in the coffin of the shop-worn Democratic myth that the Republican Party is a subsidiary of large corporations:
Most of the 16,000 contributors who are responsible for Republican Scott Brown banking $1.3 million in campaign bucks on Monday for his Massachusetts Senate campaign came from grass roots donors averaging $77.89 a donation, his campaign said
Amazing! Billy Joe-Bob McAngryRichWhiteGuy sure has deep pockets, eh? So if Brown isn’t the beneficiary of vast sums of special interest group money, who is? Why, Mrs. Coakley, representing the erstwhile party of the common man, herself!
As first reported by Timothy Carney of the Washington Examiner, the host committee for the fundraiser at Pennsylvania Avenue’s Sonoma Restaurant includes lobbyists for Pfizer, Merck, Eli Lilly, Novartis and sundry other drug companies that have been among the biggest of ObamaCare’s corporate sponsors. Other hosts—who have raised at least $10,000 for Ms. Coakley—include representatives from UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana and other insurers. As far as we can tell, the insurance industry claims to oppose ObamaCare’s current incarnation.
In a turn of events that should be recorded for posterity, for the sake of demonstrating the manifest hypocrisy of the modern Democratic party, Coakley’s latest ad–paid for in no small part with some of the half-million dollars the DSCC floated her way yesterday–blasts Brown for “out-of-state” money and sinister connections to Satan’s right hand man himself, Karl Rove.
“Scott Brown made a deal with the devil – and he should have held out for a better one…Brown’s embrace of radical tea party groups for funding coincides nicely with his willingness to accept the millions in television ads from shadowy out-of-state organizations with links to Karl Rove…”
The reference to tea -partiers as “radicals” was a nice touch, too. In touch with the common man, these liberal Democrats are.
So can we finally put to bed the stale notion that leftist Democrats are fighting on behalf of anyone but themselves and well-heeled interest groups? But they sound so edgy and anti-establishment, with their ability to truncate nouns and suffix an ‘A’ to them! How were we to know they’re lying weasels?
Truth to tell, it’s obviously leftist Democrats who are obligated to “Big Pharma”, “Big Insura”, and, coming soon to the ominous sounding moniker department near you, “Big Lawy-a”. It’s further proof, as well, that Democrats are desperate in Massachusetts.
